A-Rod To Trenton Tuesday?

I’ve laughed off the idea for quite some time now, but this now appears to be a legitimate possibility.

Peter Abraham reports that the tentative plan for Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez includes the chance of him playing rehab games next Monday and Tuesday.

While the Thunder are off on Monday, the team is home on Tuesday night against the Portland Sea Dogs.

The phrase “absolute freaking circus” comes to mind if he were to play in Waterfront Park, and especially considering Scranton is on the road in Indianapolis and Louisville during the proposed rehab game dates, it really could happen.

If it were to happen, my guess would be you’ll see him Tuesday night in the field, and then on Wednesday for the 11:05 AM game as the DH.

This is why I so miss the Yanks in Norwich…..

This would be a nuthouse perhaps worse than Clemens…

I’d have mixed feelings if this happened. As I mentioned, the presence of guys like Matsui and Clemens created ridiculous working conditions which I don’t at all like being involved with.

However, the stories you get out of these appearances are easy and essentially write themselves…and it would attract A LOT of traffic to this blog as well.

I’ve only spoken to A-Rod a grand total of once, and he more or less didn’t want to talk. So that’s in the back of my mind too.

I dunno, we’ll see. All I’ll say is that while I’ll let the Thunder marketing machine do its dirty work, getting tickets in advance just in case wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Are you saying this won’t be anything like when Steve Karsay or Felix Heredia made appearences?

Having been through several rehabs with both Boston and the Yankees, this will be a nightmare. Ticket holders will be unable to get to their seats. Autograph seekers will be crushed like sardines in a can and come away empty handed. Kids will be pushed aside by adults trying to get memorabilia to sell on Ebay. Security at the park will definitely need a big improvement! A one autograph rule must be put into effect somehow (perhaps through a ticket system). Once the hoopla before the game ends, no one should be allowed to approach the field during the game. We buy tickets to watch the ballgame, not a bunch of ignorant people making fools of themselves. Of course, by the 5th inning, when the rehabber usually is done for the day, the only people who will be left are the real baseball fans who come to every game to watch the future stars of baseball play. Having a major leaguer rehab is a plus for the team and certainly helps the revenue, but it should not infringe on anyone’s enjoyment of the game.

Abraham says he will likely rehab in Tampa and play in a few Class A games and rejoin the Yankees in Tamp during the Rays’ series.

Makes sense for A-Rod to rehab with Tampa Yankees (if he needs to) since he is already there and they are scheduled to play at home Mon & Tues.

Ugh thanks to this I am now NOT going to Wednesday game… I had off and I was all set to buy tickets today or tomorrow for the game and sit like 3 rows from the field but now when I go buy tickets they are all booked unless you want to sit in the last row in some crap section.

I hope he doesn’t even come so every can eat there 10 bucks.

That pisses me off! I don’t want to see Arod I want to see Cason, PJ, Jackson, Tabata…. maybe I can get a chance to see Masterson if he pitches that day for Portland.

BUT NOOOOOOO now I get crap because Arod is coming to town…. UGH. Just very disappointing!
