A-Rod Unlikely For Trenton
Peter Abraham is reporting that Alex Rodriguez is likely to rehab with Single-A Tampa, a move that makes sense considering the big league club is set to play the Rays shortly after that rehab would end.
I wouldn’t rule out A-Rod coming to Trenton entirely, but it looks like the opportunity for him to blow off one of my questions at the Double-A level may have come and gone.

I bet A-Rod plays in the Extended Spring Training games instead of the Tampa Yankees games. That way, since they are informal, he can bat 3rd every inning, and get 7 ABs each day. And the quality of Pitcher will be similar to an “A” League hurler anyway.

David Fenster, who covers the Thunder for WIMG, was at the Stadium last night and he seemed to indicate that would be the plan.
However, with the Yankees now saying that A-Rod will be getting another MRI before being cleared for rehab games, so perhaps that pushes the schedule back a little bit.

If he has the MRI as late as Tuesday, and the results come back early Wednesday, he could stay down there for ABs on Wed. and Thurs., then fly to NY in time for the Friday opener against the Mets.
Wonder if that will happen.
But I guess he is not coming to Trenton.
