Seven Straight, But…

Sure, this year’s version of the Thunder have won seven straight games now. But they’re not the 2007 team. Not yet, anyway.

Last year’s Trenton squad put together an 11-game win streak early in the season, a streak that included them winning 19 out of 20 games. They also put together two other double-digit win streaks, 10 and 11, respectively.

However, did you know that last year’s team didn’t set the franchise record for consecutive wins? The all-time Thunder record for a winning streak is 13, set by the 1996 team between April 15th and April 30th.

    How about Gonzalez?

He comes up last week from A ball, starts off poorly (1-12??). Now, however, he has his average at .250, which is fine considering where he was after 3 games. He also has 8 RBIs in 6 games, including a HR.

He also threw someone out yesterday. I believe the scouting report on him was that he had a gun for an arm.

They say the jump from A ball to AA is the toughest. So far, the results have been promising, although not spectacular. And I believe that no one had this guy as a highly rated prospect over the winter.

When/if Matt Carson comes back down, however…I don’t think there’s a spot for him in the lineup.

Would you say that this year’s team is better offensively than last year’s? I think they are. Seemed like last year’s squad won a lot of low scoring games where the Thunder this year are steamrolling a lot of people.

But they’ve also had those tight, low scoring games as well. I’d say there’s more offensive potential on this team, but I wouldn’t necessarily say they’re better offensively…
