Until I get the privilege of having the trainers tell me they can’t tell me anything tomorrow, the timetable for a return for catcher P.J. Pilittere will remain undetermined after he was diagnosed with multiple bone fractures in his nose following a freak play in the seventh inning of last night’s game.
Pilittere, who was struck in the face by a pop-up that deflected off of the screen behind home plate, will need to see a specialist to reset his nose. Ouch.
Looks like the team will be going with Joe Muich and Eladio Rodriguez for now, but perhaps the true value of Pilittere will start to come to the surface now that the team is likely to be without him for some time.
