That’s all the Trenton Thunder need to win back-to-back Eastern League championships.
As you might expect, it’s not a fact that’s escaped anyone in the Thunder clubhouse.
“I’m not that good in math, but I can count to one more,” quipped Trenton manager Tony Franklin after last night’s 4-1 win.
The players are also excited about getting the chance for some well-earned championship bling.
“The clubhouse is real excited,” said Anthony Claggett.
“There’s nothing better, I just hope we clinch tomorrow.”
Kontos echoed those sentiments.
“This is what it’s about,” Kontos said.
“This is what we wanted to do when we first started the year. No one came in here saying we want to play 140 games and go home. This is what we’ve been playing the whole year for, and I’m feeling pretty confident that we’re going to get it.”
Trenton sends Jeff Marquez to the mound in a few hours, and he’ll be opposed by Akron’s Frank Herrmann.
