In-Game Updates (LIVE from the ballpark): Ryan Pope needed 13 pitches, 11 strikes to get through the first.

Oh wow, this is not good…Pat Stanley didn’t even make it through his warm-up pitches.  He left with an injury.  Stanley is a Ridgewood native and someone I got to cover and know a little bit when he was with Newark last year.  We chatted on Tuesday, and I know he had some family and friends here watching him.  Sad.  Jared Gayheart will be filling in.

In his bad starts, Ryan Pope seems to have an inning in which he falls apart a bit.  Tonight, it’s the third.  The first run scored on somewhat of a fluky play, in which the ball was eventually kicked out of Ryan Baker’s glove on a play the plate…but the second came in on a clean single to left field.

2-0, Seawolves, heading into T4…

Ryan Pope with 64 pitches and 48 strikes through 4.

Pope’s through six innings and ended up pitching relatively well.  89 pitches/64 strikes…I’d have to imagine that may be it for him, though.  And how about this kid Gayheart shutting the Thunder down to the tune of one hit and no runs through five.  Cody Satterwhite is now in to relieve him, though.

Josh Schmidt, who seemed to be the only Thunder reliever not used yesterday, is in the game to start the 7th with the Thunder down 2-0.

Pope’s line, by the way… 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 7 K

Jose Valdez in to pitch the ninth

So Pat Stanley pitched in Newark…I heard they have a new policy the fans get introduced to the players…it’s much shorter to do!

I like the style you took with this article. It isn’t typical that you simply find something so concise and enlightening.
