(PR) (Trenton, NJ) – The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, announce that catcher Austin Romine has been placed on the 7-Day disabled list. In a corresponding move, OF Jason Place has been transferred to Trenton from Single-A Tampa. The transactions keep Trenton’s 24-man active roster at its capacity.
Place was originally selected in first round of the 2006 draft by the Boston Red Sox. The 23 year-old spent parts of the past two seasons in the Eastern League with the Portland Sea Dogs and has a .234 career batting average with 47 home runs and 218 RBI over the past five seasons. The Yankees signed Place after being released by Boston during Spring Training.
The first-place Trenton Thunder will begin a four-game series with the Reading Phillies Monday night at 7:05 PM from FirstEnergy Stadium. LHP Manny Banuelos (2-0, 2.12) gets the pearl for Trenton, while the R-Phils will counter with RHP Josh Zeid (2-3, 6.44).
