Sierra Signs With Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to terms with former Thunder reliever Eduardo Sierra, who went 3-1 with a 3.28 ERA in 33 games with Trenton in 2005.  He was traded at the deadline during that season with Ramon Ramirez — who was eventually busted for performance enhancing drugs — for Shawn Chacon, who ended up rehabbing in Trenton the following season.

He has since spent time in the White Sox organization, and split last season between Double-A and Triple-A.

The Dodgers also inked former Bowie pitcher Matt Riley.  During my time as a young fan following the Thunder, I’d frequently show up early to get autographs from the visiting team before and after batting practice.  Riley, a very highly touted prospect for the Orioles at the time, was also known as a bit of a hothead as well.  I recall him teaching me and anyone around me some new words after he stormed off the field and screamed various obscenities at his manager.

I always thought he’d make for a very interesting interview, because I’ve heard that he’s turned things around in that aspect of his life…unfortunately, his on-field performance hasn’t seemed to follow suit.
