In an effort to kiss up to the front office so that they let me stuff my face for a sure to be ill-fated “All You Can Eat” story keep you up to date with the latest Thunder news, here are the latest press releases from the Thunder.

The first lets you know how to get your Thunder playoff tickets, and perhaps more importantly, reveals the schedule of home games if the club does make the postseason for a fourth consecutive season.

The second release capitalizes on the NBA’s new Oklahoma City franchise taking on the Thunder moniker.  Anyone thinking I won’t be looking to dig up my Detlef Schrempf jersey from my youthful days of buying really, really bad basketball jerseys (Bryant Reeves, anyone?) is crazy…

(Trenton, NJ) – The Trenton Thunder, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that tickets for 2008 Eastern League Playoff Games at Waterfront Park are on sale now online at trentonthunder.com or by calling 609-394-3300.

The Thunder have been alone at the top of the Eastern League Northern Division since May 4. The team currently has an 8.5 game lead over Portland (Boston Red Sox) and a 10.5 game lead over Binghamton (New York Mets). The Thunder defeated Portland and Akron last year to win the first Eastern League Championship in Trenton history.

The Thunder are 4-0 on their current road trip to Portland (Boston Red Sox) and New Hampshire with three games remaining.

“Playoff Ticket Strips” that include all potential home playoff games are available now for $60 each and include a ticket to all six potential games in Trenton. Individual game tickets are also available for purchase now. Fans will be refunded for any games that are not played.

Thunder full and half season ticket holders have until Saturday, August 9 to claim their seats for the playoffs. Season Ticket Holders are encouraged to order their seats online but can also order in person or by phone.

The Eastern League Playoffs are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, September 3. Dates and times are subject to change at the discrepancy of the Eastern League and the Trenton Thunder. The potential schedule and scenarios are below. Tickets will be available for pick up the day after the Thunder clinch a playoff spot.

(Trenton, NJ) – The Trenton Thunder, the Double A affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced a special promotion designed to “ease the pain” for fans of the NBA’s Seattle Supersonics, who will move to Oklahoma City for the upcoming season. According to Oklahoma City media outlet, KOCO-TV, the city’s relocated NBA team will be named the Oklahoma City Thunder for the 2008-09 season.

The Trenton Thunder are now offering a complimentary ticket to any Seattle Supersonic fan. To receive a free ticket, fans must stop by the box office at Waterfront Park and be wearing their Seattle Supersonic hat, jersey, t-shirt or other merchandise. Each Seattle fan will receive one free ticket based on availability.

“We just want to help ease the pain for Sonics fans worldwide and offer them a night of fun with the Thunder here in Trenton,” said Thunder General Manager Brad Taylor. “We can’t blame Oklahoma City for choosing the best nickname in all of sports and certainly wish them well.”
