Jose Molina Updates

July 6, 2009

Bottom 1st — He grounded out to second base on the second pitch. Video coming…

Bottom 4th — He grounded out to second base on the second pitch. Again. If nothing else, he’s consistent.

Bottom 5th — He drew a seven pitch walk…

Bottom 7th — Molina struck out swinging on four pitches.  He’s 0-for-6 with a walk and three strikeouts so far in this rehab assignment.

In-Game Updates (LIVE from the ballpark): Zach McAllister threw 36 pitches in the first inning, and was still one strike away from getting out of it unscathed. But Juan Portes hit a two-run single threw the left side, and New Britain has a two-run lead.

Defensively, this team collectively is bad. How many sad efforts at first base am I going to see out of Jorge Vazquez before he takes a seat? He flat out dropped a routine throw from Eduardo Nunez in the second. Then, he and Reegie Corona miscommunicated on a ground ball that was inbetween them, and Corona booted it. Back-to-back errors for the back-to-back champions. 2-0, T2.

McAllister has thrown 65 PITCHES through two innings. 40 strikes. A bases loaded walk in the second and it’s now 3-0, heading into B2.

Edwar Gonzalez lines into a double play to end the second…Chris Malec was way too far off first.

Pino is absolutely dealing…26 pitches through three; 20 strikes, six balls. Meanwhile, Zach McAllister recovered with a six pitch inning and is at 71 through three. Still…yikes.

Reegie Corona with an RBI single to right in the 5th…it’s now 3-1, Rock Cats.

Edwar Gonzalez again lines into a double play in the 6th. Chris Malec was again too far off first, but this was laced back to the pitcher, so that one’s excusable.

McAllister’s out after six, which is somewhat surprising considering how inefficient he was through two. Wilkins Arias now in. Still 3-1.

Arias walks to the dugout after getting five outs…Eric Wordekemper will likely finish another riveting Thunder game.
