Great question, loyal reader!
The Thunder are home for seven straight games starting Tuesday, which includes Erie’s only trip to Waterfront Park of the season. Here are the pitching matchups for that series:
8/18: ERIE Ramon Garcia (2-3, 5.73) vs. TRE Jeremy Bleich (3-5, 5.36)
8/19: ERIE Jon Kibler (6-7, 4.20) vs. TRE Zach McAllister (6-4, 2.16)
8/20: ERIE Pat Stanley (6-4, 4.57) vs. TRE Ryan Pope (5-9, 4.85)
I’ll be covering at least two of these games, possibly all three…Pat Stanley was signed out of the independent Atlantic League, having pitched for Newark. He started last year’s All-Star Game for the Freedom Division. No, Lee Greenwood does not have an ownership stake in the league…Jon Kibler is a top 30 prospect for the Tigers. I’ve wanted to see him pitch ever since finding one his baseball cards in a pack of this year’s Bowman offering. Stupid, but true…Cale Iorg is Detroit’s third best prospect, and will likely be the player to watch for Erie…Paul Bush would be on pace to start against New Hampshire on the 21st, and Lance Pendleton would pitch on the 22nd. Bleich and McAllister are both slated to throw twice this homestand, with Bleich penciled in for the 23rd and Mac for the 24th.
