Newman’s Talkin’ Trenton

Well, sort of.  Chad Jennings — he being the guy whose blog you should be reading about 20 times a day — got a chance to catch up with Mark Newman before tonight’s game in Scranton, and he came away with some valuable information that pertains to many of the organization’s prospects, as well as some players who either are in Trenton now or have seen some time at Waterfront Park this year.

Chad would also frown on a run-in sentence like that, but so be it.

In any event, check it out here.

I like Laird, Gerald Laird’s kid brother. A 1B and 3B, his future in the Yankee organization is up in the air. But he has some serious power, and we do not have much of that in the organization. He is a bit behind last year in the power dept., but is having a strong 2nd half. Should be in Trenton sometime next season.

It’s pretty presumptuous of Chad to just ask Newman who’s going to be coming to play for Scranton in the playoffs…the Thunder still have 8 games with New Britain and are not dead yet. That would be like me saying that the rain this weekend will put Scranton’s field under water and force them to play the rest of their home games in Lehigh Valley or maybe even Trenton. Nothing is a done deal yet.

Chad was asking what any good reporter would ask while doing his job. How can he be faulted for that? Not sure why the presumption is out of line based on the way the Trenton has been playing of late and the fact that are 3 games out of 2nd and a spot in the playoffs.

Presumptuous. See: Putting playoff tickets on sale for a third place team.
