6:15 PM — Not a whole lot going on here today…

3:00 PM — Well, I suppose it’s all downhill from here. It’ll be a little tough to follow up that story, but I am a beat writer covering a baseball team, so the show must go on.
First off, here are your pitching matchups for the series against Bowie…
Today: Alfredo Aceves (0-0, 0.00) vs. Pedro Viola (3-2, 3.50)
Wednesday: Adam Warren (3-2, 4.02) vs. Rick Zagone (3-4, 4.29)
Thursday: D.J. Mitchell (10-4, 4.12) vs. Chorye Spoone (7-5, 3.93)
I’m particularly excited about Thursday. I’ve heard a lot about Spoone for a long time, so I’m looking forward to getting to see him myself.
Secondly…the money piece. The reaction to that was simply overwhelming. I read every one of your comments, everyone of your e-mails, every one of your Tweets…if you flew a plane over the ballpark, I might have missed that…but the point is, I really, really appreciated everyone’s kind words about the story.
The real sense of pride in that story — at least part of it — is getting the word out that these guys aren’t the spoiled, overpaid athletes a lot of people thought they were. Professionally speaking, it was also excellent to shatter blog records for hits in a day because of a story I wrote, not news I broke (the old record was last year when I broke Jesus Montero’s promotion to Trenton).
And third…playoff tickets are on sale. Get them and such.
(PR) (TRENTON, NJ) The Trenton Thunder, Double A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced on Tuesday that tickets for all 2010 potential home playoff games are on sale now.
Game tickets may be ordered online at trentonthunder.com, by calling the Thunder Ticket Office at 609-394-3300 x 101 or by visiting Waterfront Park Monday-Friday 9:30 am-5:00 pm.
Thunder full and half season ticket holders have until August 25 to claim their seats for the playoffs. All unclaimed seats are now available for sale to the general public. Season Ticket Holders are encouraged to order their seats online but can also order in person or by phone.
Fans will be refunded for any home playoff games that are purchased and not played by October 1, 2010. Season ticket holders will receive a credit towards their 2011 season tickets.
Tickets will be available for pick up the day after the Thunder clinch a playoff spot. Tickets will be available for pick up at the Will Call window.
The Thunder currently lead the New Hampshire Fisher Cats by 2.5 games in the EL Eastern Division. The Thunder’s lead over third place Binghamton is 13 games. The top two teams in each division qualify for the playoffs.
The Thunder failed to reach the post-season in 2009 after defeating Portland and Akron in the playoffs in both 2007 and 2008 to win back-to-back Eastern League Championships.
