Game 27: In-Game Updates

Top 1st: Manny Banuelos is at 92-93 MPH pretty consistently with his fastball…

35 pitches-19 strikes for Banuelos through one.  He got into quite a jam, loading the bases with two walks and a single, but got out of it with two strikeouts.

Bottom 2nd: Banuelos at 54/30 through two…but he gave up two runs and hasn’t been sharp at all.  A Melky Mesa homer has Trenton down 2-1.

Top 3rd: 71 pitches/42 strikes for Banuelos through three.  He gave up another run on a sac fly by Oscar Tejeda that traveled to the fence in left.  6 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 2 K for Banuelos if that’s it for him.  Thunder down 3-1.

Top 4th…Banuelos out after 3.2 IP and 96 pitches (!!!), 53 of them for strikes.  Pat Venditte in.  Banuelos:  8 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 4 BB, 2 K.

Top 6th…Still 3-1, Thunder trailing…

Top 7th…Tim Norton comes in and gives up two runs…5-1, Portland

Bottom 7th…Trenton gets two runs back in odd fashion…Melky Mesa scores after a Tim Federowicz throw to second to try to catch Ray Kruml stealing got away…then Kruml scored on a wild pitch.  5-3.

Top 8th…Ryan Lavarnway hit an absolute missile to left field off Norton for another two runs…7-3, Portland.

Bottom 8th…Brad Suttle RBI triple…Melky Mesa RBI single…Trenton has cut it to 7-5.
