5:45 PM — Kei Igawa has been called up to Scranton. No word on who will start tomorrow’s game for Trenton now.
Also, spent about 10 minutes with Brad Halsey before the game. Still a great guy.
4:00 PM — Lineups…
3:50 PM — A few quick alumni notes…Matt Cusick was signed by the Atlantic League’s Southern Maryland Blue Crabs and former Thunder infielder Kevin Howard was picked up out of that league (Lancaster) by the Toronto Blue Jays. He’s going to Triple-A.
3:10 PM — Can report that Brad Halsey has been called up from High-A Tampa to fill one of the two open roster spots. Halsey pitched last night for Tampa, and struck out one in a scoreless inning of work.
Halsey, 30, is a lefty who last pitched in Trenton in 2003. He made his big league debut the following season in 2004 with the Yankees and has also pitched in the bigs with Arizona and Oakland. Halsey pitched last season with Gary of the Northern League last season and posted a 7-7 record with a 3.82 ERA in 20 starts. He re-signed with the Yankees organization this season, and that appearance with Tampa last night was his first under Yankee employ since 2004.
Here’s my 2009 feature on Halsey while he was with Long Island of the Atlantic League.
