(PR) (Trenton, NJ) – The Trenton Thunder (38-25) were unable to sweep the Binghamton Mets (20-41) Sunday at Waterfront Park as the B-Mets took the series finale 7-6 in 12 innings. Binghamton scored two runs with one out in the ninth inning to send the game to extra innings and won the game with two more runs in the top of the twelfth inning. Long solo homeruns from DeAngelo Mack and Cody Johnson were not enough for Trenton, who still reside in the top spot of the Eastern League’s Eastern Division.
The B-Mets had a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning when the Thunder finally got to Binghamton starter Jeurys Familia, who had dominated Trenton to that point to the tune of three hits and just one run. With one out in the frame, DeAngelo Mack roped a long, solo homerun to right-centerfield that cut into the B-Mets’ lead, who now led 3-2. Later in the inning with runners at first and third and two outs, Ray Kruml lined a double down the left field line to tie the score 3-3. A batter later, Corban Joseph also lined a double that straddled the left field foul line to score two and give the Thunder a 5-3 advantage.
Trenton took that two-run lead with them all the way to the top of the ninth inning, but the B-Mets tied the score on a one-out, two-run homerun off the bat of Salomon Manriquez. Binghamton then scored the decisive two runs in the top of the twelfth on a two-run doubled from Allan Dykstra.
