(PR) (Binghamton, NY) – The Trenton Thunder (39-29) fell to the Binghamton Mets (23-43) 7-4 Saturday night in front of 5,978 at NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton, New York. Corban Joseph was a triple shy of the cycle and Cody Johnson doubled home two runs for the Thunder, who have now lost four straight games for the first time since April 25. Trenton tied the score in the top of the seventh inning, but a two-out, three-run homerun from Allan Dykstra in the bottom of the seventh led the B-Mets to their second straight win in the three-game series.
Looking to grab an early lead a night after losing 10-4 at the hands of the B-Mets on in game one on Friday night, Thunder second baseman Corban Joseph, just the second batter of the game, hit a solo homerun to right field to give Trenton its first lead of the series at 1-0.
Binghamton scored three in the bottom of the first to take a two-run lead, but the Thunder answered back. After a DeAngelo Mack walk, Jose Pirela doubled to put runners at second and third. A batter later, Mack scored on a wild pitch to add a run to Trenton’s tally, making it 3-2 B-Mets.
With the B-Mets holding a 4-2 advantage in the top of the seventh inning, the Thunder had runners at first and third with one out. Cody Johnson hammered a double off of the wall to deep left-centerfield to bring two runs home and tie the score at 4-4. That tie was short-lived, though, as Allan Dykstra hit a three-run homerun in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the B-Mets the lead that they would never surrender.
