Romine Selected To Futures Game

(PR) (TRENTON, NJ)  The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced today that catcher Austin Romine has been selected to participate in the 13th annual Futures Game as part of Taco Bell All-Star Sunday on July 10 in Phoenix. The Futures Game is considered the top showcase of baseball prospects and can be seen live on MLB.TV, ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD at 6 p.m. ET.Austin Romine entered the 2011 season as the #6 rated Yankees prospect by Baseball America. The Yankees second-round pick in 2007 is currently hitting .298 with four home runs and 31 RBI.  Romine participated in the 2010 Future’s Game in Anaheim.A total of 14 Thunder players have appeared in the Futures Game.

Trenton Manager Tony Franklin has made three appearances at the Futures Game, having represented the Thunder in 2007, 2009 and 2010.Major League Baseball, along with the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau, MLB.com, Baseball America, USA Baseball and the 30 Major League baseball clubs, selected the 25-man rosters.
