Scouting The Thunder…

I spoke to a scout yesterday about a few key players on the Thunder, as well as the just-promoted Manny Banuelos.  Here are some quick notes…

Manny Banuelos

— Durability concerns due to size
— Puts a lot of torque on a small frame

Dellin Betances

— Has three plus pitches
— Not very athletic
— Trouble repeating delivery
— Has best chance between him and Banuelos to be in the front of an MLB rotation, is the player he’d keep between the two

Austin Romine

— Solid defensively
— Offensive concerns; high leg kick can causes him to open up and drift, which gives him problems on pitches low and away
— Problems are fixable, but have not been yet.

Corban Joseph

— In a tough spot beacuse he’s behind Cano and is limited to 2B defensively.
— Good line drive hitter with some doubles power.
— Needs to continue to work on his defense.

Thanks Mike. Would’ve liked to have heard his thoughts on Hall and Garrison as well.

    Great stuff Mike!
Not all good news but still great to hear a professional opinion.
