(PR) (Manchester, NH) – The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (70-59) used a four-run fourth inning to breeze past the Trenton Thunder (64-64) 9-1 on Tuesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The loss for Trenton breaks a seven-game winning streak over the first-place Fisher Cats that dated back to May 1. John Tolisano’s three-run homerun capped a four-run fourth inning for New Hampshire, who lead for all nine innings on Tuesday night.A night after Cory Arbiso and three Thunder relievers were able to hold the Fisher Cats to just three runs on seven hits, Thunder starting pitcher Craug Heyer was hit hard on Wednesday night. New Hampshire scored an unearned run in the bottom of the first inning then struck for four in the bottom of the fourth. Three of the fourth inning runs came on a three-run homerun by John Tolisano. In 5.2 innings, Heyer, who had won three straight decisions coming into the outing, allowed seven runs on eight hits.
The only Thunder offense on Wednesday night came in the top of the seventh inning. Zoilo Almonte doubled to begin the frame and was advanced to third base on a single by the next batter, Melky Mesa. Then, with one out in the inning, Damon Sublett brought Almonte home on a sacrifice fly to right field. The Thunder have scored just one run in the final 17 innings after scoring three times in the top of the first on Monday evening.
The Thunder and the Fisher Cats will finish their three-game series on Wednesday night at 7:05 PM from Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Trenton will turn to RHP Chase Whitley (3-3, 2.75) to make a spot-start, while the Fisher Cats will turn to RHP Drew Hutchison (0-0, 0.00) for the start.
