Hall Huge In Another Thunder Win

(PR) (Manchester, NH) – Shaeffer Hall came within one out of a complete game as the Trenton Thunder rolled to an 8-3 win to complete a three-game sweep of the new Hampshire Fisher Cats Sunday afternoon. Hall (4-4) threw a career-high 8.2 innings to win his second game on the road trip and move Trenton (22-18) a season high four games above .500. The Thunder out-scored New Hampshire 18-5 in the sweep.

The left-hander Hall allowed seven hits (including two home runs) and did not walk a batter while striking out three. He allowed a two-out, two-run home run to Mike McDade in the ninth and was then pulled in favor of Ryan Pope, who recorded the final out. In two games on the trip, Hall pitched 15.1 innings and allowed three runs while not walking a batter.

Dan Brewer went 2-for-3 with a walk and his first home run of the season, a blast to left that put the Thunder ahead 4-1 in the seventh inning. Cody Johnson had given Trenton an early 1-0 lead by delivering an RBI single in the first against Fisher Cats starter Joel Carreno (0-1), the fourth straight game he had driven in a run in the first inning.

Trenton added two runs in the fifth, eighth and ninth innings. David Adams recorded two sacrifice flies while Corban Joseph and Yadil Mujica each picked up RBI hits.

Abraham Almonte, Joseph, and Brewer each had a pair of hits while Johnson extended his hitting streak to a team-season-high nine games. He has 12 RBI and four homers during those nine. The Thunder finished the six-game road trip with a 4-2 record.
