Shane Brown. Like A Boss.

(PR) (Trenton, NJ) – Shane Brown’s two-out, two-run single in the bottom of the tenth propelled the Trenton Thunder to a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over the Binghamton Mets Sunday afternoon in front of 5,393 fans at Waterfront Park. Trenton (35-26), which was down to a final out in the tenth before the final three batters reached, salvaged a game in the three-game series on Brown’s second extra-inning game-winner in nine days.
Leading 2-1 in the tenth, Mets reliever Adrian Rosario (0-1) retired the first two Trenton batters on a line out and a deep fly out. But Zoilo Almonte singled to shallow right and Melky Mesa walked to bring Brown to the plate. A Rosario wild pitch advanced each runner, and Brown then delivered a 2-0 pitch in the left scoring the tying and winning runs.
Binghamton, which had totaled 21 runs and 33 hits over the first two games of the series, was held to only five hits by Brett Marshall, Preston Claiborne and Lee Hyde. Marshall tied his season-high with eight strikeouts in six innings. Hyde (2-1) allowed an unearned run in the top of the tenth on third baseman Jose Pirela’s throwing error, but later induced a double play groundout to end the inning.
The Thunder stranded 10 runners on base through nine innings against Greg Peavey (five innings, one run allowed), Armando Rodgriguez (three innings) and Brad Holt (one inning). Mesa, Brown and Yadil Mujica each collected a pair of hits for Trenton.
The Thunder are off Monday before heading to Altoona to begin a six-game road trip. Game one of a three-game series against the Curve begins on Tuesday night with a 7:00 pm first pitch. Lefty Vidal Nuno (1-1) is slated to pitch for the Thunder against righty Tim Alderson (3-2) of Altoona. Radio coverage on 91.3 FM (WTSR) and also streaming online begins at 6:45 pm.
