(PR) Bowie, MD) – Trenton launched two more homeruns and received another quality start from RHP Brett Marshall in a 5-1 win over Bowie on Sunday night. J.R. Murphy and Walter Ibarra hit back-to-back homers to support Marshall in his league-leading 12th win of the year. Trenton (69-45) will have an off day Monday and open a three game series at Waterfront Park on Tuesday against Reading.
J.R. Murphy and Walter Ibarra hit back-to-back homeruns in the fifth inning to put Trenton up 2-0 lead. It was the second time in as many games that Trenton connected on back-to-back homeruns and the ninth time they have accomplished the feat this year. Jose Pirela followed with a double and stole third before scoring on an infield-hit form David Adams.
Thunder starting pitcher Brett Marshall (12-4) hurled six Innings to earn his league-leading 12th win of the season. Marshall allowed just one run on four hits and struck out five, throwing 85 pitches in the outing. Ryan Pope tossed a scoreless seventh inning and LHP Francisco Rondon closed out the win to pick up his first save of the season.
Bowie scored in the fifth inning, beginning with a Buck Britton lead off single. Briton moved to second on a walk and to third on a groundout before scoring on a sacrifice fly to right field. The Baysox where held to a combined five hits by Marshall, Pope and Rondon.
The Thunder pushed across two insurance runs in the ninth inning on doubles from Ibarra, David Adams and Addison Maruszak. Adams collected three hits and drove home two in the game.
