Murton. Gone.

(PR) Trenton, NJ) – The Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced Tuesday that first-baseman Luke Murton has been promoted to Triple-A Scranton. Right-handed starting pitcher Zach Nuding has been promoted to Trenton from A-Advanced Tampa to take his place.

Murton had a breakout season for the Thunder, hitting 25 home runs and driving in 68 runs in a team-high 126 games played. He finished second in the league in long balls.

Nuding, 22, went 8-3 with a 3.89 ERA in 16 appearances (14 starts) with Tampa this season. In 85.2 innings for the Yankees, he allowed 89 hits and 41 runs with 66 strikeouts. He was rated by Baseball America as the 22nd-best prospect in the Yankees Farm System entering 2012. The righty was a 30th-round draft choice in 2010 from Weatherford College.
