(PR) The Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced Wednesday that infielder Reegie Corona has been activated from the team’s disabled list and catcher Nick McCoy has been transferred to the team from Class-A Charleston. Third-baseman Rob Segedin (right hip soreness) and catcher Kyle Higashioka (right elbow soreness) have been placed on the team’s disabled list.
Corona, 26, is expected to be in the lineup for Wednesday night’s game against New Hampshire – his first game action since July 30, 2010. The former member of the Yankees’ 40-man roster missed all of the 2011 and 2012 seasons as he recovered from a serious arm injury. Corona was an Eastern League All-Star for the Thunder in 2009. He had been on the DL for the first month of this season with a hamstring injury.
McCoy played in eight games this season for the Charleston RiverDogs and batted .179 (5-for-28) with one RBI. Segedin has been out since suffering the injury last Wednesday in Akron. Higashioka left Tuesday night’s game in the third inning because of the elbow soreness.
