Game 99: Pre-Game Notes

5:50 PM — Bad news. Kevin Mahoney has undergone season-ending elbow surgery. More details should come out of that later, but hopefully it’s a minor issue.

Trenton had a pre-game meeting as part of MLB’s initiative to educate players on sexual orientation in the workplace. There was no incident that led to it, it was a previously scheduled event.

Doesn’t seem Aaron Dott’s “blister” will keep him out long. Also doesn’t sound like Mikeson (pronounced my-sun) Oliberto will get much playing time here.

Also, Craig Heyer was visiting the Thunder clubhouse today. The former Trenton pitcher is currently with the Can-Am League’s New Jersey Jackals.

4:30 PM — Lineups…

Thunder lineup: Flores LF, Heathcott CF, Pirela 2B, Roller 1B, Sanchez RF, Clark DH, Corona SS, Stevenson 3B, Farnham C, Turley P

NH Lineup: Loewen CF, Burns 3B, Jimenez C, Glenn RF, Nolan SS, Jacobo DH, Van Kirk LF, Ahrens 1B, Manzella 2B, Nolin P

Also, Francisco Rondon has been sent back to Trenton, while Aaron Dott has been placed on the DL with a big toe blister.

3:25 PM — Some news before lineups are in…after Scranton lost both Thomas Neal and Melky Mesa to the big leagues, there was bound to be some organizational outfield shuffling. And there has been.

Scranton has recalled Cody Grice, and Trenton has received Mikeson Oliberto from Staten Island. Oliberto, in his fourth year in the organization but only his second in North America, was batting just .174 in 12 games with Short Season-A Staten Island.
